Blade Runner 2049 Review - The Impossible Movie That Happened

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a solitary Blade Runner named K discovers a long-buried secret that if it becomes public has the potential to plunge what's left of a decaying society into chaos. This discovery throws K (Gosling) into the difficult quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former Blade Runner gone missing for three decades.

Review: It would be easy to accuse Hollywood of trying to exploit easy money by revisiting Ridley Scott's classic science fiction cult, "Blade Runner," 35 years after the 1982 original. What other motive would the film industry have to revisit this alternative world of dystopia, painted with neon glow? Except the opportunity to enrich, exploring yet another recognized brand?
Like many, I was also waiting for another uninspired and derivative copy of the original; simplified and directed to mass consumption. Fortunately, my fears did not materialize. Blade Runner 2049 is a great and complex story run by a masterful storyteller. One of the best films of this year and the decade, which will be talked about, discussed and revisited for a long time. Just like the original classic.

Denis Villeneuve is undoubtedly the latest deity of the filmmakers of today, and his vision in this film is so well defined and executed, rivaling the original. But this is not just a love letter from a fan; Villeneuve shows his confidence in taking a story so loved, building from the classic, to give us a beautiful visual tour, addressing at the same time, polarizing themes of post-modernity, about technology and the human condition. By skillfully combining the key elements of cinema, the most obvious, the absolutely dazzling cinematography of Roger Deakins. The soundtrack is another recognized element of this franchise, and conductor Hans Zimmer almost does justice to the iconic themes of Vangelis.

Villeneuve also had at his disposal a talented set of actors to work with. Ryan Gosling who in recent years has assembled a portfolio of important films, demonstrates why he is one of the most popular actors today. The secondary roles are also masterfully performed by Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright and Mackenzie Davis with memorable performances.
Ana de Armas, in particular, seems to be a young actress to be reckoned with, she is undoubtedly the tragic diva of this film. While Jared Leto is predictably disturbing. Reviving another character, Harrison Ford was completely invested in this role, one of his best interpretations ever; and his chemistry with Gosling is essential for some key points that make "Blade Runner 2049" even more significant and pertinent as a sequel.

Blade Runner 2049, is the impossible movie that happened. In an age when cinema is characterized by soulless and repetitive blockbusters. A sequel that is a complex film with luxurious interpretations, intelligent dialogue and breathtaking scenarios, justifying an elongated time of pure dystopian wonder, inciting the viewer's intellect at all times. This is a movie as dazzling as it is clever, which will be enjoyed beyond our time. One of the great masterpieces of modern science fiction
I definitely recommend this movie.
