Review The Terror 2018 -TV Horror Masterpiece
Much has been said about the growing quality of TV series; a format that has surpassed the cinema in the quality of the stories told, either by the density of the characters or the total immersiveness in which the viewer lives these narratives.
The Terror, is a good example of this. Hardly in the horror genre, we will be able to find on any screen something similar at this level of quality, in production value or in execution.
The spectator becomes the passenger in a story that will make us suffer with each death, the simplest sigh of anguish, and question where reality ends and delirium begins.
From the splendid performances, to the artistic quality of the photography, to the richness of dialogue, to the permanent tension. This is indeed a journey into a frigid hell, causing the viewer to question every metaphor, every allusion.
TV prestige in all its splendor, a brilliant series of horror, period and drama.
Probably for many, the best ever told in this genre. That will inevitably become a reference of worship and remembered beyond our times.
The only caveat, perhaps the moderate pace and the absolutely distressing atmosphere, should not please a niche of viewers accustomed to consuming more formulaic and light audiovisual content.
But in general I absolutely recommend this series to all who enjoy a story well told, without clichés and the typical cheap formulas. 5 stars out of 5.
